Turning tragedy into triumph

Nancy and I were married in 1978 we were expecting our first child in late 1981. But, in early August of 1981 my wife miscarried and we lost this precious gift, we will meet this precious child, whether girl or boy when we meet our Father in heaven. It was a devestating loss, but a miracle was not far off in the future.

Later in 1981 we found out that once again she was expectiong. After a lot of nervous months on August 5th, 1982 our first of three boys were born. As King David found out with the loss of a child, it is hard to see beyond the loss. Loss is part of life and there is nothing we can do or say that end the heartache.

But, after the loss of one child we were blessed with the birth of another, and the joy of watching him grow up into a young adult, getting married, and blessing us with 2 beautiful granddaughters. As he now approaches middle age his life is in full swing building his own family legacy. Who knows what dissapointments will come into his life, or into the lifes of our other two boys

Everyone will have loss and disappointments in their lives. But, how we look at these moments will effect what transpires after. Follow the path set forward by the one who loves us enough to give his life for us, and a light will shine brightly leading us out of the darkness and into the light of truth and love.

Prayer of the Day

Prayer Book
Give Me Strength, Lord Prayer
Lord, you are Holy above all others, and all of the strength that I need is in your hands.
I am not asking, Lord, that you take this trial away. Instead, I simply ask that Your will be done in my life. Whatever that means, that is what I want.
But I admit that it’s hard, Lord.
Sometimes I feel like I can’t go on. The pain and the fear are too much for me, and I know that I don’t have the strength on my own to get through this.
I know that I can come to you, Jesus, and that you will hear my prayer. I know that it is not your intent to bring me to this point just to leave me in the wilderness alone.
Please, Lord, give me the strength that I need to face today. don’t have to worry about tomorrow.
If you just give me the strength that I need today that is all I need.
Keep me from sinning during this trial. Instead, help me to keep my eyes on you. You are the Holy Lord, and all of my hope rests in you.
Thank you for hearing my prayer.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
