My thoughts for the day!

When I struggle the most while writing for this blog or coming up with inspiration for my upcoming book “Masterpiece in Progress” it is when I try to do it on my own. The ideas are there but I just can’t put words to them down. They are like a mangled up extension cord. You can find the begnning and the end, but how they are connected is a jumbled up mess. I just sit there wth my hands on the keyboard, but the fingers don’t move, because my brain is not able to make any sense in what is inside of it.

How do I find the connection of the beginning and the end of the extension cord. After a period of frustration and giving up. I take a step back, take a deep breath and deliberately pick it up. Starting from the beginning (which ever end the beginning is), and one step at a time follow the directon of the cord. Eventually you come to the end, and you are left with a straight, or curving line with a a clear path from one end to the other. The path is clear.

So what does that have to do with my writing, you may ask? The answer is simple. When I try to write without asking God for inspiration, my thoughts are a mass of jumbled up thoughts. Many times I know how to start, and even know how I want it to end, but I how I get there I am lost.

Only when I step away, take a deep breath and listen the spirit as it slowly breaks through the barrier of my own stubborness and self doubt. Then the line in side my mind becomes clearer, and the path to the end is straight and true.

How do I know that what I am saying is true to the Word of God? Many times when I am writing I don’t even know what I am going to say until my fingers have already typed it. When finished I look down at the screen, read what I wrote and think, “thats not too bad”. But the credit does not go to me. I realize that I am only the vessel of those words, and the God and me make a pretty good team. Especially with him as the captain.

So if you are lost and out of ideas of what God wants you to do. Stop immediately what you are doing, Go outside if you can and look at the beauty that God has created. Pray for the right words or actions then let God take control. With him at the helm, you will be part of an unbeatable team.
